Play Hockey
We welcome kids of all ages and offer various Try Hockey for Free events throughout the year where kids can experience hockey before signing up.
Potential Players
We'd love to have you join our youth hockey program. For players who are new to hockey, we offer our Learn 2 Play (L2P) program which allows you to try hockey with minimal out-of-pocket costs. Plus, we loan the necessary gear to you! Following completion of L2P we will place you into the age appropriate level.
The development of first time players is a priority of our organization. Providing players the opportunity to develop their skills at their own pace to higher competitive levels is also a desired goal. The competitive abilities of all participants are assessed in each age division to ensure a well-balanced program for both in-house and travel teams.
Try Hockey for Free
Throughout the season and off-season the Tri-City Youth Ice Hockey Association will host Try Hockey for Free events throughout Kearney and the surrounding areas. These events provide kids and families to try hockey with zero obligation.
These events are coached by numerous coaches from our association and often include current players from the older age groups to help kids experience hockey. These events are usually one hour long and include fun games on the ice and mini drills so the kids can experience everything the game has to offer.
Equipment is provided on a first come first serve basis, however participants are encouraged to bring their own helmet (bike helmets are ok) and dress appropriately to be on the ice. Skating aids are available.
Eligibility: kids age 3 through seniors in high school who do not currently play ice hockey.
